Data on municipal crime, preferably at a reasonably disaggregated level (best would be exact date, location and type but per day per street or post/zip code would be acceptable)

The data is collected from the Government of Interior statistics, although the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA) is responsible for publishing this data set on this website which is the UAE official Open Data Portal (Bayanat.ae). This portal proposes datasets which are 'open' for reuse but these datasets are not too valuable: they are all in XLS, not very detailed, not up to date.
Finding more specific data sets on crime statistics was very difficult, as it seems they do not exist. I tried to find one on every data platform I could find. I looked at the most advanced Open Data Platform of Dubai called 'Dubai Pulse' which displays the most ‘open’ data sets validating lots of criteria for good open data standards. But despite the very detailed and up to date datasets, the latter are only related to non-sensitive data : traffic, education services, business activities, utilities etc. In fact, Dubai Pulse is a tool put in place by the government in the context of the digital transformation of the city announced last year (they are also trying to foster the use of AI, blockchain technologies etc.). Its aim is to make Dubai 'a smart city' through innovation in order to improve economic prosperity. Dubai Pulse is very much business- and efficiency-driven, without any reference to politics, rights or citizenship. Ruler of Dubai said the aim was 'not to have the most data but to unleash the greatest value of data creating new opportunities and improved experiences for all'. In that context, I assume crime statistics are restricted information for the government knowledge, as datasets do not exist. Nothing too surprising for the UAE. I do not think there are plans to make it available in the future, as the city is pretty conservative and the political regime not too democratic. These types of information seem to be to sensitive for the regime's image. My investigation was really interesting as I realized open datasets (and stats in general) are always highly political. Smart city does not necessarily mean citizens' empowerment or fair city!
