Maputo / Air Quality / 2016
Data on air quality (e.g. levels of major pollutants) on a granular basis - that is at least broken down by month (preferably by day). Geographic breakdown (e.g. by grid point) would be nice but is not required.

Regarding data on air quality, we contacted the Professor Julião M. Cumbane , who conducted a study about air quality and CO2 emissions in Maputo , but we did not get any answer. We did not receive an answer from another member of the “Air Pollution Information Network-Africa” (APINA) , Uthui Rogeiro . We also asked for information to the INE office , but they did not have any data to provide, and suggested us to ask the municipality. Unfortunately, this was not possible, once the municipality does not inform any contact address for environmental issues on their website. We browsed the Open Africa dataset, but they only have data on air quality for the national level. We nonetheless contacted the Environment Statistics Branch of the United Nations Statistics Division, which was indicated as a source by the Open Africa dataset, in order to know if the data we are looking for exists. They answered that they do not compile statistics on the data requested. In conclusion, we presume that data on air quality in Maputo is produced by scholars and might be shared with policy makers as part of the APINA network, however, even after several contacts made, we did not manage to gain access to it.
